Starting from - Stevenage Station - We will meet on the cycleway that runs along between the railway line and Lytton Way.
If you arrive by train, turn right on exiting the lift up from the platform and walk along concourse towards the Town Centre. Just before you get to the bridge over the Lytton Way dual carriageway, turn left and use the lift to go down to street level. When you come out of the lift, turn left and cross the small drop off carpark back towards the railway line. There is a short ramp down to the cycleway between the cycle racks. SG1 1XT

Why not join us for the whole day?

There are 45km of segregated cycleways which were built when the new town was first developed in the 1950s. These run alongside the main roads and use wide underpasses under the roundabouts to keep cyclists and pedestrians completely separate from motor traffic.

Here is a map of the entire cycleway system:

Some of the cycleways were once lanes linking villages across the countryside that pre-dated the town - we will use some parts of these routes: https://www.cyclinguk.org/sites/default/files/document/groups/stevenage_old_lanes_-_routes_from_cycling_uk_stevenage.pdf

We will showcase the very best of our unique Stevenage segregated cycleway system. This ride may be of particular interest to women coming from outside of Stevenage to join the afternoon Fancy Women Bike Ride event - more at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/fancy-women-bike-ride-stevenage-tickets-651266384287

We will be using the traffic free cycleways for the vast majority of the route - with just some very short sections of quiet link roads where necessary.

The ride will end at Costello's Cafe, Fairlands Valley park in time for lunch before riders may wish to join the Fancy Women Bike Ride Stevenage which starts from the Cycling Hub at 2pm.

Bring a picnic lunch or cash/card for the cafe if you plan to stay for the afternoon Fancy Women Bike Ride. We will be riding that dressed for the occasion - it will be fine to be in your outfit for this morning ride too!

This ride will be a great way to find out more about our cycleways - for visitors and locals alike.
