Starting point

Powys Radnorshire

We start with a long climb out of Talgarth heading up to the pass at Pengenffordd and from here it’s a lovely sweeping downhill to Tretower. Taking a picturesque lane, we pass by the historic Tretower Court and after a very short section of busy road, we return to explore more tranquil farm lanes.

We cross the River Usk at Llangynidr and continue towards Talybont on Usk. Here, if the the cafe is open, we can stop for a cuppa and if we have room, a slice of cake! We have a few steady climbs to tackle on our way back to Talgarth but generally the quiet back roads are gently undulating.

If you are free and fancy getting out on your bike for some fresh air, fun and non-competitive exercise, join us on a fabulous evening “Breeze” (women only) bicycle ride starting and finishing in Talgarth. This route should suit confident riders who have some experience cycling 30 miles or more.

This route is mainly undulating, with some challenging climbs and downhills thrown in to test and build on your fitness.

Plenty of opportunity to stop en-route to catch your breath and have a drink and enjoy the views. We’re planning to stop for lunch at some point, so please bring a tasty little picnic!

Please bring a well-maintained bicycle, wear a helmet, gloves and appropriate clothing for the weather. Remember to carry a drink, a spare tube, puncture repair kit, lock and pump if you have them and bring some money for refreshments. We intend to finish the ride before it gets dark but please bring some lights if you have them. A face covering and some hand sanitiser could be useful.

We cycle, we chat, we laugh and never leave anyone behind!
