Starting from - Chartham Village Hall is set back from the road, roughly opposite St Mary's Church, Chartham. There is a large recreation field nearby, public toilets and a small, village shop. There is a car park at the village hall but please travel to the ride as sustainably as possible - Chartham train station is just a couple of hundred metres away.

Route rating

0 stars (0) Reviews

An almost entirely flat and traffic-free ride following the Great Stour River from Chartham to Canterbury (and back) - perfect for chatting and relaxing whilst enjoying the riverside scenery.

The majority of the route is on shared, gravel paths. There are a couple of cattle grids along the route and there can be some large puddles after a rain so hybrid bikes and mountain bikes are most suitable.

We'll cycle into Canterbury City Centre for a coffee break so please bring some money for refreshments. You can ride back to Chartham with us, catch the train back or travel onwards from Canterbury.

Please bring a drink and a snack just in case. Helmets and warm clothing including gloves are advisable - please bring layers and waterproofs even if the weather forecast is fine. It's an easy ride, but it can feel quite exposed in the wind if we need to stop for any reason. Don’t forget some money for refreshments in Canterbury. Festive attire for you and your bike are optional. :)

Both first-timers and old-timers are all very welcome!
