Starting point

Essex
CM20 2JD

We will start at Harlow Town station, head west to the Pinnacles industrial area before finding a quiet woodland path south to the commercial centre near Staple Tye. Crossing under Southern Way we skirt around to the north of the radical and influential Bishopsfield estate and visiting peaceful Tye Green Village. Continuing along Southern Way to the ‘hamburger’ roundabout with the A414 we then turn north and via Nicholls Field we travel along the ancient Latton Street byeway, past The Stow and Mark Hall park to visit our final ‘corner’. Turning west again on Netteswell Road, this is a broad, tree-covered cycle path that takes us all the way to the War Memorial and into the Town Park. We can stop for a drink and a snack to celebrate our achievement before crossing Edinburgh Way to return to the station.

So, you’ve pottered round your local area on your bike, now you want to stretch your legs and explore a bit further…. Why not join me for a ride around Harlow? We start at Harlow Town station and visit the four corners of Harlow using safe cycle paths and some on-road riding on quieter roads to find the surprising variety of scenery that Harlow offers – from urban industrial to quiet woodland, parks and golf courses to quiet suburbia and new town design, both historic and ’interesting’….

The ride is almost entirely on car-free separated cycle paths with some guided riding on quieter side roads. There are a few inclines to negotiate but we will be taking our time, ensuring nobody is left behind.

We will finish the ride at the Harlow Town Park cafe, close to the start of the ride.

You should have a well-maintained, safe bicycle with fully inflated tyres. Please bring a spare inner tube correct for your wheels. We will carry out a bike safety check, a skills check and a briefing before the start of the ride. Although helmets are not a legal requirement for adults it is strongly advised they are worn, and children are required to wear helmets. Please check the weather and dress accordingly – layers work best! Please bring money for a celebratory coffee and cake at the café in Harlow Town park.
