This ride begins from Abney Hall in Cheadle. We then follow the Trans Pennine Trail along the River Mersey towards Stockport. We then continue along the trail through Stockport and out towards Bredbury along the road. We then head towards Bredbury Hall joining Dark Lane and follow the newly constructed Alan Newton Way. This route links nicely onto the Middlewood Way (a disused railway line which links Marple to Macclesfield). We then leave the Middlewood Way at Nelson's Pit Visitor Centre (Toilets here) before following Lyme Road up into Lyme Park. The views really start to open up here. After the climb into Lyme Park we descend towards Disley before crossing over the A6 road towards Windlehurst and joining the Macclesfield Canal. This takes us on through Marple to join the Peak Forest Canal and across the spectacular Marple Aqueduct. Finally we rejoin Stockport Road near Woodley and descend back into Stockport, retracing our wheels back to Abney Hall
