Starting point

Greater Manchester
WN3 4BE

A predominately off road ride starting at the car park at Heritage Way in Wigan, heading out along the canal towards Leigh, with a quick jaunt up the guided busway towards Lilford Park and then on to Howe Bridge.

Using cycle paths, we'll carry on through Hindley Green towards Low Hall Nature Reserve and Amberswood Common before rejoining the canal and back to Trencherfield Mill.

Please make sure your bike is roadworthy and you bring a spare inner tube/repair kit along with any specialist tools you may need.

Route rating

5 stars (2) Reviews

A scenic ride along canal towpaths, taking in a few local parks and woodland areas with a couple of short stretches of quiet roads.

The route is predominantly traffic free and fairly flat - there may be a couple of inclines but no hills! Suitable for hybrid and mountain bikes.

There's no cafe stop although there are plenty of places to stop and take photos. There will be a stop at Lilford Park.

Helmets are advisable. Bring water and snacks as although we will stop, there isn't anywhere to buy anything.

We never leave anyone behind
