Out and Up to Upham

This route is intended as a progression from short urban rides to something a little longer and follows a quiet route used by many riders to get out to enjoy the countryside and scenery to the north east of Southampton. It could be used as a future stepping stone for those wishing to access the South Downs and its villages, scenic views and wildlife.

A ride for those wishing to progress on from urban rides and explore quiet country lanes.

We'll start the ride on traffic-free shared pathways and cycle infrastructure as we make our way from Riverside Park to West End. At West End we'll move onto quiet roads which will start to take us out into the countryside via Moorgreen and Horton Heath before we skirt Durley and head on to Lower Upham and then Upham.

We'll make short stops at suitable spots to take in views and then on our return journey we will take a break at The Farmer's Home pub in Durley where we can get a drink and snack if wanted.

Please wear a helmet and bring along a spare inner tube in case of a puncture. You'll need a means of payment for when we visit the pub and it's also a good idea to carry a drink with you and perhaps a snack in case you need an energy boost.

We welcome new competent riders wishing to experience a slightly longer ride and explore new places. Don't worry, we won't leave anyone behind!
