Villages of the Vale

Lets do a nice figure of 8 in the Vale of Glamorgan. This is a familiar route for some but this time we're starting at the Sport Wales building in Sophia Gardens (careful if coming through Bute Park to the start point as parkrun starts at 9am near Tesco at Gabalfa). We head west onto suburban roads before heading out into the country lanes. A scenic route passing through many of the small villages in the Vale of Glamorgan. It is suprising how soon you can leave the City behind and find yourself on quiet country roads. We will pass through St Fagans, Peterstone-Super-Ely, Gwern Y Steeple, Pendoylan, past Llanerch Vineyard before the furthest point on the route of Welsh St Donats. On the way back we will come through Tredodridge and Clawdd Coch before routing through Peterstone Super Ely again. Closer to home we will pass Llandaff Cathedral before heading through traffic free paths in Llandaff fields back to the start point The route is undualting with some fantastic views. We will stop at Llanerch Vineyard for a coffee break.

The route is mostly country lanes with a few busier roads on our way out of and back into Cardiff.
