Nostell Priory

Join us on some amazing rides, created in association with our friends at the National Trust. Make the most of some beautiful countryside, and great facilities for cyclists. If you're fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour. Come and join us on this great ride starting at the iconic Nostell Priory. At 22 miles long this route is long enough to include some amazing sights and scenery around the Wakefield area but short enough not to over do it on the leg muscles! Along the way we make the most of the Wonders of Wakefield route as well as sections of the Trans-Pennine Trail. There are plenty of places for a breather to admire the views including Waterton Countryside Centre, Pugneys, New Miller Dam and of course Nostell Priory. As this route is led predominately on traffic free and rural roads it's perfect for anybody wanting to up their mileage a little but still ride in a safe environment. Bike hire is available for this ride! Working in partnership with Wakefield District Cycle Forum, free bike hire will be available for Sky Ride Local rides at Nostell Priory. Bikes must be booked in advance; to secure your bike please email: [email protected] with the subject title ‘Sky Ride Local bike hire' followed by the date of the ride you require a bike.
