Walton Hall

A steady ride following cycle paths, quiet canal side paths and traffic calmed residential roads. This is ideal for the whole family on any type of bike.  There are multitude of things to see besides the flora and fauna of the 'ralla' and the watery habitats of the canal, but you have to be observant or they'll pass you by. Nature Reserves more than you'll expect and buildings that tell stories of what industry there used to be. It starts at Walton Hall Park and join the traffic free National Cycling Network 62 up to Aintree, where we continue until we join the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. On here is a beautifully scenic circular through Netherton, alongside Rimrose Valley Country Park and returning south on the canal towards Bootle and then meandering back through Walton Hall Park to finish this lovely 12 mile cycle. The ride is split between mainly tarmac surface and a stretch of gravel path which are relatively well maintained.
