Starting point

Hertfordshire
WD18 6LB

Starting from Watford Cycle Hub, we follow National Cycle Route 6/61 along the Ebury Way & Abbey Way to St. Albans, on traffic-free cycle routes, until Bricket Wood, and then on mainly quiet suburban roads, with a few sections with faster moving traffic.

On reaching St Albans we will stop for refreshments at the cafe - Inn on the Park, set in the beautiful surroundings of Verulamium Park. The return ride weaves its way again on cycle paths and quiet suburban roads passing the North Watford allotments, the award winning Cheslyn Gardens and through the Cassiobury Estate before riding down Watford High Street to re-join Route 6/61.

This is a Steady Plus Route: There are some rolling hills but no whoppers! The pace will average about 8-10 mph over the route. This route is designed to give you a relaxed, longer ride to the Cathedral City, using the National Cycle Routes & showing you somewhere lovely to retreat to & how to get there bypassing busy roads. A great ride for all who want to increase their distance & gain some quiet road practice in good company. :)

Please bring a spare inner tube in case of a puncture - as changing an inner tube is faster than fixing a puncture. Watford Cycle Hub sell inner tubes from £4 new should you need to purchase one. Please check your bike is in good working order before the ride - especially that your brakes are working & your tyres are pumped. You can also come along early before the ride to use our track pump, or we can help get your tyres to the correct pressure for you pre-ride. :)

We are Not-For-Profit and do free bike assessments should your bike need checking over, or be in need of a service. :)
