NB: We will be running a version of this route TWICE this month at different pace settings to cater for different needs and abilities.

This time around, this is our monthly relatively 'Faster Paced Ride' where we try to help riders begin to bridge the gap between 'Leisure Rides' and Club Pace. It's also for those training for longer sportives, e.g. 70 - 100 miles where a minimum pace of usually c. 12-13 mph is needed to beat the sweep on the route. We don't draft - so you'll get a good work out and can enjoy your treat of choice at the Cureositea Tearooms at Ivinghoe! :)

We kindly ask that if you are not comfortably hitting 12-13mph over 30 mile hilly routes just yet, please come on the 10-11 mph average paced version of this ride on Sunday 22nd April, where you will be warmly welcome and the aim will be more to help people complete the route, than to do it at set pace. This version of the ride will be posted shortly and if you want to pre-book a place, email Georgia at [email protected].

This route has been designed to combine a range of hill climb challenges, through mainly quiet, scenic country lanes, with a few busier sections.

The total climb for the ride is 2686 feet / c. 820 metres - so this ride is about half the total distance and climbing of the Ride LondonSurrey 100, so excellent training for that event.

Definitely one for more experienced riders - though we'll open the challenge to more riders on Sunday 22nd April! :)

Your bike must be in good working order for this ride and you must be in good health.

Whichever version you choose, do come prepared with:

- Two Spare Inner Tubes
- Money/Card to buy refreshments or in case you need to catch the train back to Watford at Tring / or get a cab
- Water &/or Electrolyte/Isotonic drink or gels
- Snacks: E.g. Gels, Bars, or Good Old Flapjack works!
- Appropriate clothing for the conditions and for cycling this kind of distance: padded shorts or tights are highly recommended

Our Ride Leaders: Katherine Deaney and John Hunt look forward to sharing this Challenging Plus Route, the scenery and the cake with you. :)
