Wednesday Winter Warmer to Shawford

This ride is suitable for beginners or returners and is limited to 6. Our pace will be slow and steady to allow everyone to get to know each other and gain confidence cycling within a group. We’ll always ride at the pace of the slowest rider, so no-one is left behind.

Starting outside the main entrance of the disused River Park Leisure Centre we will ride around the outskirts of the city centre before heading to the traffic free Viaduct Way. There will be a short section on St Cross Road going towards Compton and our first hill up to the bridge over the motorway. This is followed by a lovely downhill stretch through Shawford and Twyford on quiet country lanes. We go up our last hill before a short section on the main road, back along the cycle path to our coffee stop at the Cadence café. We shall then be heading to the cycle path by the weirs to return to our start. The on-road sections are short on busier roads or on quiet roads and will be carefully managed to ensure everyone feels safe and supported.

Please also bring:
- Inner tube/ pump/ tyre levers for puncture repair (don't worry about getting a puncture, we can help)
- A snack, if you think you will need one, and a drink
- Layers to suit the weather (no special gear is required just safe shoes/trainers)
- Mobile phone
- A lock for your bike and cash/ payment card for the coffee stop.
