Starting point

South Yorkshire
S6 4TE

This ride starts with a steady climb up Loxley Road before passing the Admiral Rodney and taking a right turn onto Long Lane. After a little more climbing we turn left onto Myers Lane and wend our way up to Kirk Edge Road and onwards via Onesmoor Bottom to Walker Edge. From there we continue to Wigtwizzle and a short, moderately steep climb up to Mortimer Road. There is then a bit of steady climbing and a longish descent before the first of two short, steep climbs that take past the Strines Inn (where we'll stop for refreshments). After a couple of miles of flat or slightly uphill road across the moor we turn left and it is then mostly downhill to Low Bradfield and an easy few miles along the side of Damflask Reservoir to Loxley Road and back to the start.
Although there are some longish climbs in this ride and a few challenging hills, we’ll take it steady and stop for breathers whenever we need to. If you need to walk up any of the steeper bits, that is fine – we won’t leave anyone behind.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
We recommend that all participants wear a helmet. Please make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather.
As usual we do expect you to have ensured your bike is roadworthy and that you have carried out basic pre-ride checks; we recommend that you also carry at least one spare inner tube, a pump (CO2 inflators are also highly recommended). It is also a good idea to carry a spare chain link that matches your bike’s chain (e.g. 9, 10 or 11 speed). If you have a mechanical problem we will do our best to assist you and/or lend you an inner tube or repair kit if we can, but it is always best to be self-reliant. Don’t forget to bring money for refreshments and a mobile phone.
