If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.  This ride takes you from the thrilling White Water Course of the Tees Barrage to the calm stillwaters of RSPB Saltholme. Heading away from the Barrage, via the north side of the river, we take the path toward Newport Bridge and through Port Clarence before arriving at the RSPB Saltholme Nature Reserve. Entry to Saltholme is free for cyclists to visit and whilst here you can explore the breathtaking, state-of-the-art building with panoramic views of this huge wetland. There is an excellent café which is stocked with all cyclists' favourites of freshly-brewed coffee, gooey cakes and more! There is also a great shop where you'll be able to spend a bit of pocket money, or splash the cash, before returning to The Barrage over Newport Bridge along the south side of the river.
