The ride will leave Robin Park and use the canal towpath, shared paths and cycle lanes passing through Poolstock and Goose Green before climbing through Winstanley to Windy Arbour. Then we take to the road for a while before turning off on to a quiet road/track and then along the roadside cycle lane to Carr Mill Dam. We will follow the Sankey Valley Trail to our refreshment stop which is the newly refurbished Rangoli Sankey Arms.

The return route continues to Mesnes Park in Newton le Willows to visit an interesting sculpture in the park. From there we go over Haydock Racecourse, through Golborne to Viridor Woods and back to Robin Park.

There are a number of "A" frame barriers on the Sankey Valley Trail but they are easy to pass through.

As usual photos will be taken on the ride and put on the Wigan and Leigh Cycling Group Facebook page - please notify the ride leaders if you do not want your photo taken.

A ride through the scenic Sankey Valley.

The ride is a mixture of canal towpath, quiet roads, short stretches of busy roads and tracks and trails.

There will be short stops en route and a longer stop for refreshments at the Rangoli Sankey Arms.

Please bring drinks/snacks or money to buy them. Helmets should be worn on this ride.

New riders are welcome on our rides and we never leave anyone behind.
