We will head off from Kirkstead Bridge and cycle along the traffic free Water Rail Way until we get to Southrey. There we will cycle out of the village past Southrey Wood on to the B1190. Most of the route along the Water Rail Way is flat but there is a gentle climb towards Bardney.
Once in Bardney we will stop at the Bardney Heritage Centre cafe, where there are toilets, before beginning our return back along the way we came.

We begin our ride at Kirskstead Bridge in Woodhall Spa and head out along the traffic free picturesque Water Rail Way. Keep an eye out for the many interesting sculptures and history boards telling the story of the Water Rail Way, formerly part of the Lincoln to Boston branch line of the Great Northern Railway.

The first 3.6 miles are traffic free, then we will head along a quiet road out of Southrey village where you may glimpse the remains of the Medieval Tupholme Abbey. We will then continue on to the B1190 road for just under 2 miles to reach our coffee stop at the Bardney Heritage Centre.

There will be time to stop along the route to take photos if you wish and our main stop will be halfway through the ride at the Bardney Heritage Centre which serves as both a small railway museum and a cafe.

Please bring cash/card for the coffee stop plus bicycle locks. Helmets are strongly encouraged.
