This is a bit of a leg burner for the latter end of the season! Don't be put off by the climb - you never know if you can do it until you try, and if its too steep then its only a short push! Taking in one of our local challenging climbs, Milking Hill (usually called Yearsley Bank), we start from Easingwold and head up the Oulston road, across the crossroads, and cross the ford to reach the bottom of the climb. A steady but steep climb in 2 sections with a more gentle stretch in the middle brings you to one of the best viewpoints around. Through the village and straight on to the main road to Helmsley where we turn right for a short stretch. Then a left/straight on to take us along the ridge to the mini maze. Down the hill through Skewsby to Whenby, then right at the bottom, back to Brandsby and a stop at the Dutch House for refreshments, before the final climb up to Crayke and home. One of my favourite routes. Don't forget money for refreshments and a pair of climbing legs!
