A Trail of Two Manors

Starting at The Canal Visitor Centre, located in the Brassknocker Basin in Monkton Combe. This route follows quiet country lanes in which nestles the idyllic and medieval Iford Manor, famous for its tranquil Grade 1 listed Italianate garden, and also Great Chalfield, with its romantic moat and Arts & Craft gardens.  On route you will cross the ancient town bridge of Bradford on Avon, a town famous for its many fine examples of architecture from across the ages, and challenge yourself on the short but sharp climbs as you cross the river Avon between the villages of Freshford and Westwood.
