Frenchwood Recreation Centre

This 12 mile route cleverly links Preston with Clayton-le-Woods using a combination of traffic-free paths, parks and quiet suburban roads. Starting at Frenchwood Recreation Ground to the south of the town, you'll cross the beautiful Victorian Avenham Park before joining the Old Tramway Cycle Route (National Cycle Network Route 55) heading south. This leads you to the 650 acre Cuerden Valley Park, following the banks of the River Lostock south towards Clayton le Woods. You'll stop in the distinctly rural surroundings of Cuerden Valley Park, with its mansion house, woods, riverside and gardens before retracing your wheeltracks back north to Preston.
