This is a great 12 mile Steady route using a mixture of the Spen & Calder Valley Greenway's and the Calder & Hebble canal. A mostly traffic free route using some local roads through urban areas boasting beautiful countryside, moorland views, a wildlife reserve and the rolling hills of West Yorkshire. The route passes through the historic woollen mill town of Dewsbury, with a chance to stop for refreshments at the picturesque Saville Town canal basin and see the fabulous new tunnel on the Ossett greenway link.  Keen eyed individuals will spot the old railway boundary stones, remnants of the old line, sculptures and short Haiku's written on bridges.

This ride uses part of National Cycle Network (NCN) route 66 and 69. To find out more about the NCN and other great places to cycle near you everyday, go to the Sustrans website (http://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map/national-cycle-network).
