*PLEASE READ BEFORE SIGNING UP - NOT A BEGINNER'S RIDE!*
*DO NOT SIGN UP UNTIL A FEW DAYS BEFORE THE RIDE IF YOU HAVE ALREADY ATTENDED THIS RIDE IN MAY.*
THIS RIDE: a criss-cross of a total of 16 bridges in London, from Kew to Tower Bridge. This is NOT a beginner’s ride: you need to be confident in busy traffic and tricky turns, and comfortable with the distance at a steady pace (not slow). You have to complete the majority of the ride so do not join if you intend to peel off before returning via Marylebone.
PLACES WE CYCLE PAST: Acton Park, Thames towpath, Duke’s Meadow footbridge, Chiswick Mall, Chelsea Embankment, Battersea Park, Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, Millbank and the Parliament, Southbank, Victoria Embankment, Upper Thames Street, Tower Hill, St Paul’s Cathedral, and Marylebone.
We will stop at Vauxhall to have lunch at Casa Madeira (
www.madeiralondon.co.uk/). Bring snacks and plenty of water for the journey in between that.
THE ROUTE: A mix of busy roads with complicated junctions where everyone will need to be switched on and signalling their intentions to stay safe amongst motor traffic, some quiet roads, lots of shared towpaths and a few cycling lanes. We aim to be back at around 6pm.
IMPORTANT POINTS: *Helmets aren't compulsory but advisable. *Check that your tyres are pumped and bring a spare inner tube and all necessary tools in case of a puncture. *If you can't make it anymore, please cancel your space. *Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains. Dress for the weather and bring a raincoat just in case. *Please be advised that we video record some of our rides which are later published on YouTube @PlacesWhereMyBikeTakesMe. By joining them you are authorising your image to appear on the video.
