Starting point

RG22 4RA

Portsmouth Arms, Hatch Warren, Basingstoke, Hampshire, RG22 4RA

Portsmouth Arms, Hatch Warren, following the cycle path including parts of NCR 23 through to War Memorial Park and then via Black Dam to Crabtree Plantation to Old Basing. This is nearly all on shared paths/cycle paths not in traffic apart from short sections that are designated cycle routes or quiet roads. Return loop shows on the map a dip into the pub (The Millstone) but with it getting a bit colder/ darker we'll continue on our way. There is a short section on the road back through Old Basing then we go back onto shared paths via Eastrop Park to meet the outward leg at War Memorial Park and return to Hatch Warren. Lights are a legal requirement front and back - make sure they are charged and/or batteries not about to die - or bring spares if unsure you don't want a blackout! This is an easy paced route open to all who think they can do the distance at this speed; we won't go speeding off beyond this and we don't leave anyone 'in the dark'! Remember riding on paths and at night is slower generally anyway than day time. I will have strong lights with me so as long as you have lights you are happy with all are welcome to come and try night riding in a safe social environment!
