Ambleside

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour. This ride starts and finishes in one of the Lake District's best known towns, Ambleside, boasting many cafes, pubs and outdoors shops for pre and post-ride perusal. It's an out-and back route into Great Langdale, a spectacular valley surrounded by soaring peaks from which numerous waterfalls flow. Some of the highlights en route include several crossings of the rivers Rothay and Brathay, Elterwater village and passage through the centre of the awesome Burlington slate quarry.    Bike hire is available from Ghyllside Cycles, Ambleside - 01539 433592. Please book in advance and collect from the shop and state that hire is for Sky Ride Local.
