This is our longest ride so far! It is not hilly or fast-paced, but it’s classified as challenging because of the long distance. We also have to cycle through some busy junctions and roads (although it is mainly a quiet segregated route) so you need to be confident in traffic.

This is a day out in the Greenwich Peninsula and Isle of Dogs, stopping at various points of interest for pictures and admiring the views. When cycling, we will go at a steady pace, but we don’t rush through our stops. We also take the Emirates cable car (yes, with our bikes!) to cross the river from Greenwich to the ExCel, which sometimes have a bit of a queue. We will be back at Roundwood Park by 16.30.

We head off to Westminster Bridge to cycle south of the river all the way to Rotherhithe where we will see some interesting points like the Salter statues.

We carry on cycling along the river until we reach Greenwich and the Cutty Sark. There we will have lots of options for lunch. If the weather is nice we can have a picnic at Greenwich Park, if not we can have shelter at any of the several pubs and restaurants around.

After our well-deserved lunch break, we continue in the direction of Greenwich Peninsula until we get to the cable car. To avoid the ticket office queues, please bring a contactless card/phone or Oyster which can be used at the gates in and out of the cable car (single adult fare £4). With our bikes, we are allowed 2 in each car.

On the other side of the river, we continue our adventure along the Thames at the Isle of Dogs with beautiful views of Canary Wharf. When we get to Limehouse, we have our final stop at the quirky Yurt Café before we head back to Brent via CS3 from Tower Bridge till Hyde Park.

Those who feel tired or can’t carry on will have several options along the route to take a train back (DLR, Overground and even the ferry from Greenwich to Westminster).

Helmets aren't compulsory but highly advisable. TfL requires the use of masks so you will need to wear one on the cable car (unless you’re exempt).

It’s important that you bring water, snacks in case you run out of energy before the next break stop, a contactless or Oyster card for the cable car, and a spare inner tube and tools in case of a puncture.

Places are limited and sometimes get booked up with a waiting list. If you develop Covid-19 symptoms or have been told to self-isolate before the ride, or can't make it for any other reason, please ensure to cancel your space so someone else can join.

Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains. Dress for the weather and bring a rain coat just in case.
