A Pictorial Potter to Colinton Village

A gentle meander along the Water of Leith path from Saughton Park Gardens to Colinton Village.
The ride is mostly traffic free, on paths and cycleways with good surfaces and only a couple of short road sections.

From our start point we'll cycle alongside the river to the Water of Leith Visitor Centre and make our way through Redhall Park to rejoin the Water of Leith path at Millennium Acres. There's a gentle incline before we reach the lovely Colinton Tunnel where we can pause for a while to admire the murals. Moving on through Spylaw Park there is more artwork to be seen before we head up to the village, to Cuddies Lane and the new murals which were unveiled on 25th July.

Cycling through the village, we pass a fine statue of Robert Louis Stevenson on our way to the Parish Church where we'll take a refreshment break at the friendly Swing Cafe. The churchyard itself has some interesting features. We return to the Water of Leith path and head back to our start point by more or less the same route.

This is a short, easygoing ride which we'll take at a leisurely pace with plenty of stops to catch our breath and take photos. If you're used to whizzing along on roads to get from A to B then it may not be for you!

Helmets are recommended. Please carry a spare inner tube to fit your bike and have a strategy for getting home with your bike in case you can't continue the ride for any reason. (eg friend/taxi)
