Ambleside

With the Lake District having just gained UNESCO World Heritage Site status, a member of the Lake District National Park Authority team will be on hand on this ride to explain more about the World Heritage Site and why the area deserves this status.A dramatic ride which leaves behind the hustle and bustle of Ambleside via cycle tracks and quiet roads and heads for the deep glaciated valley of Great Langdale. On the way you will take in the rapids at Skelwith Force, glide along the banks of the River Brathey and Elterwater Meadows, all the time being watched over by the huge Langdale Pikes. There are some steep ascents and descents on this route on improved bridleways as you enter Great Langdale. If you have not taken your own refreshments there is the chance to treat yourself to a free Tea or Coffee (with the purchase of a cake) at the Stickle Barn pub, before heading back down the valley to Ambleside. Please note that the total ride time for this event has been extended due to the guided tour element of the ride.
