Ambleside to Grasmere

From our meeting point, outside Ambleside C of E Primary School next to Rothay Park, we will follow an undulating route along the course of the River Rothay from Ambleside to Grasmere and back. The ride takes you through green pastures and ancient woodland as well as along the shores of Rydal and Grasmere lakes. Panoramic, breath taking views change at each corner and over each hill - there are one or two but walking and stopping for rests means more time to enjoy the scenery. Quiet roads and purpose built traffic free cycle paths are used for the entire route.
