This is a very nice route using lots of OFF Road trails tracks & woodland paths. We'll be riding on lots of different and varied surfaces and seeing lots of scenic countryside.
Its not a race but our pace usually averages around 9mph for the whole route.
We do like a coffee stop or two, usually with a cake or scone, and we do like to chat so we have to watch the time spent in the cafes

a route created by Stephen Dennis to show off the area known as the Dearne Valley. We'll be visiting several Pit head Parks and landmarks, (created since the pit closures of the '80's), as well as riding some of the lovely cycling trails created during the rejuvenation of this once heavily mined area around Barnsley.

A mix of cycling trails, canal tow paths, Trans Penine Trail, parkland tracks, some single track trails, and some tarmac cycle lanes.

Two planned coffee/cafe stops on this ride - First one is at The View cafe in Mapplewell @12miles, with views across the Dearne towards Barnsley town centre, Second stop is at the RSPB Old Moor at Manvers @34miles.

Always wear a helmet and suitable riding gear for the conditions. Carry some water and snack, bring cash & card for the cafe's. We are a social group and we ride together. All riders are individually responsible for their own bike maintenance and own safety. If a rider gets a flat we will pause and help if needed, but you the rider, should ALWAYS carry tools & spares to repair a flat ! (tube, puncture kit, pump etc) Your bike should have a bell to warn other trail users of our approach, and when its wet weather Mudguards should be fitted to prevent spraying other riders.

'First Time with us', are very welcome
