This 10 mile route travels west from Teesdale Leisure Centre over moorland, once we have weaved our way out of the town via Cycleway 70. Still following cycleway 70 we pedal up Dent Gate Lane climbing steadily to New Broomielaw where we turn left. Reaching a T-junction we turn right until we reach Kinninvie. Here we leave cycleway 70, turning left onto B6279 and after approximately one mile we turn left again. We follow a county lane to the left of Howegill Plantation which brings us past Moss Close. It is all downhill from here (just about)! At the next junction turn left and follow the B6278 all the way back to Barny, picking up cycleway 70 back to the start .

A 10 mile route taking in some of the National Cycle Network, with some undulations around beautiful Barnard Castle

On quiet road and National Cycle Network

As this is a short ride, we will not be stopping for refreshments en route. Please bring along water and snacks

We always recommend helmets. Please also wear clothing suitable for the forecast - layers are always good, as are warm gloves, buffs and waterproofs if inclement. As social distancing is in place please also bring along a spare inner tube suitable for your bike, a pump and tyre levers. Leaders will carry first aid, sanitiser, gloves and face masks as a last resort.

First-timers welcome!
