Breeze Durham Summer Evening Ride 3 Croxdale

Join us for our 3rd of 6 summer weekly Tuesday evening rides from Durham. Beginning with flatter and shorter rides we’ll increase our miles and hills over the weeks to 12 miles on 5th June. Doing all the rides as a series is recommended if you’re a newcomer to cycling so you can build up confidence and stamina over the weeks.
This, our Croxdale Ride, is one of our favourites as it takes us through this quiet and hidden rural Estate south of the River Wear. We’ll firstly take the ‘new’ cycle path alongside the A167 to the Honest Lawyer before heading through the Estate on a bridle way which takes us back out near Bowburn. We’ll head down through Shincliffe, past Houghall and through the University back to Howlands. The route is a mix of on and off road and is most suitable for hybrid bikes as it is a mix of surfaces.

In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Please make sure your bike is in working condition and bring a spare tube to fit your tyres. We should be riding for about an hour and there will be the option to stop for a cuppa/drink once back in town.

As always we can’t predict the weather so please dress suitably. You are better to be overdressed as you can always take layers off. It may still be glove and buff weather in May.
