Breeze Durham to Newcastle Cathedrals (and back)

From Durham Cathedral, we will cycle up North Road to join the A167 cycle path towards Chester-le-Street where we will turn north and follow the cycle lanes through Birtley and then dip under the Angel to travel side roads through Gateshead to cross the High Level Bridge and reach Newcastle Cathedral, where we will collect our "Cathedralcycleroute" stickers, have refreshments before deciding which way to return to Durham. You may wish to use the train, or cycle back with some of the group - it's up to you.
A great day out, with Cathedral glory and stickers to collect.
It is 15 miles one way, so 30 miles if you want to cycle back.

We will be stopping at Newcastle Cathedral for refreshments before returning back to Durham.

Helmets are always advisable, as is clothing suitable for the weather forecast. We recommend gloves, buffs and warm layers, together with a waterproof, just in case. Please also bring along a spare inner tube suitable for your wheel size, tyre levers and a pump. We also welcome sweets to share :) and a bottle of water.
