Starting point

London
UB10 9NR

- The plan is to go via a somewhat hilly route for 11 miles to Chalfont St Giles for coffee at The Deli, but there is the option to have coffee instead at Duran’s café at Maple Cross or the Muddy Boots café at Rowan Garden Centre and take a shortcut home if necessary.
- We will cycle from Hillingdon along the cycle track alongside the A40, to The Drive (lovely private road with huge houses) down through Uxbridge Golf Course, along cycle tracks to the ANZAC cemetery. Then uphill to Harefield, downhill to the Coy Carp and on quiet roads to Maple Cross, with an option for coffee at 8 miles, or up a long hill to another option for coffee at Rowan Garden Centre, where we can decide whether we want to go all the way to CSG, for coffee at The Deli, or whether we should cut it short and head home. We go downhill all along Chesham Ln/Denham Ln/Slade Oak Ln then through the picture postcard English village Denham, through the flash Buckinghamshire Golf Club where we see how the other half live, across the canal and do our final climb back up into Uxbridge Golf Club. Down the cycle path on the other side of the A40 to arrive home at 22 miles, via this route https://ridewithgps.com/routes/33661068
- We will wait after any hills so that no one is left behind.
- We plan to stop at The Deli cafe. Please bring a pump, water, credit card and at least 1 spare inner tube. I would prefer you to wear a helmet for your safety.
- This is a mixture of tarmac and tracks, so a hybrid bike is best. A road bike with skinny tyres may not cope too well with the tracks.
- I can’t see who is on the waitlist, so if you are on it, send me a message via the “message ride creator” button, with your phone number, and I will see whether I can make another space (you need to be logged in to the let’s ride website to see the button)
- You can take your bike anywhere on the Metropolitan Line anytime on weekends and off-peak Mon-Fri (peak hours are 7:30-9:30 and 16:00-19:00).

- If you are driving to the start there is free parking on many residential roads off Long Lane e.g. Richmond Avenue UB10 9BH.
- Please check your bike thoroughly before you come. Check your brakes are working well, your gears are smooth and your tyres are in good condition and pumped up – you can use this video. https://www.sustrans.org.uk/our-blog/get-active/2019/everyday-walking-and-cycling/the-m-check-for-your-bike-in-11-steps If that one is too technical then try this easier one https://youtu.be/u0dtGe-LrcQ
- If you, or anyone in your household, are feeling at all unwell with possible symptoms of Covid-19, please cancel your place.
- If you have any questions don’t hesitate to message me
