Starting point

West Yorkshire
WF2 7SX

This week we start at the picturesque Newmillerdam.
We leave Beuley Café turning left onto Barnsley Road. After 42 metres turn sharp left onto Slack Lane. Boyne Hill.
At the roundabout Turn Left onto Wood Lane. Follow Wood Lane for 0.3 mile. The road turns 90 degrees to the left, on this corner we turn Right onto a cycle/walking track, once a railway cutting.
At the junction we switch back on ourselves following the track up and over the road, we turn right travelling along the road for 30 metres taking the turning on our left to re-join the track.
We follow the track all the way to Anglers Park passing through Haw Woods.
This first part of the route is part of the Wheel of Wakefield Cycle Route.
We bypass the park on the way out taking Haw Pak Lane and following the road for one mile.
At the sign post pointing left to Anglers Park we take a RIGHT to re-join the Wheel of Wakefield cycle route over the field.
We follow this route until we meet with the A638 Doncaster Road.
Turning RIGHT onto Doncaster Road we cycle over the historic Nostell Bridge shortly after turning LEFT into the main gates of Nostell Priory.
After a loop of the grounds, part way on a purpose build cycle path we stop for a well earned brew at Nostells Café.

Heading back we leave Nostell Priory by the main gates cycling a few yards before turning LEFT then frst RIGHT onto Swaine Lane. This is a minor road passing through Horncastle Wood.
We take the first RIGHT onto Moorhouse Lane/Back Lane, RIGHT onto Long Dam Lane, LEFT onto Haw Lane/Wintersett Lane, which leads us back past Anglers Park.
We follow the same route back to Newmillerdam.

It’s a beautiful route at any time of year. Mostly on disused railway lines with a little road cycling.

IMPORTANT: CYCLING HELMETS MUST BE WORN. You will not be allowed to participate if you do not have a cycling helmet.
