A steady ride down to South London to visit the Brixton Windmill, Brockwell Park and the Herne Hill Velodrome. There are a few busy roads we need to cycle along so some level of confidence in traffic is required.
We head off via Kensington Gardens and South Kensington and cut through Battersea Park to join Wandsworth. We zig-zag through a mix of quiet and busy roads in Clapham and soon will be at Brixton Windmill. The mill is still active and used to grind flour (read more about it on
www.brixtonwindmill.org/), and we may see it working on our visit, although it requires booking to get inside.
After a few photos, we carry onto Brockwell Park, where we will go up a short hill to see beautiful views of London from the top. We carry on to Herne Hill Velodrome to have a look around, and then Herne Hill station where we will stop to eat at the food market open on Sundays.
We then start making our way back through Brixton, Vauxhall, Westminster, and Maida Vale. We aim to be back before 3.30pm.
