https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43585219Lights strongly suggested, due to dappled shade in places along the route.
Be aware that some lanes on the route have been top dressed in the past month. Though they're mostly ok, especially within vehicle tracks, watch out for loose gravel on corners in particular. Ride to include coffee stop at Uffculme, total anticipated time for ride & break is three hours approximately.
A short series of four ‘improver’ rides for women who are reasonably confident bike riders, to help us all get back out on our bikes again, building up a stamina for slightly longer rides. We will start with a route of about ten miles, and adding five miles a week, increase the distance to twenty five miles by the end of the series. Average speed will be a steady 10 mph. It’s recommended that unless you’re already happy to tackle the longer distances that you try to join all four rides. The aim of the series is for us all to feel ready to get the most out of the summer by enjoying longer rides whenever we can grab the chance.
Devon lanes avoiding main roads where we can. There may be some hills but we take them steady and you do get used to them. We may have a coffee stop on any rides longer than two hours. Helmets are essential. I’m no mechanic, so please ensure your bike is in a safe, rideable condition prior to the ride, and that you are able to deal with any mechanical issues yourself, or have a ‘get home safely’ rescue plan in place! We never leave anyone behind.
