Route rating
(0) ReviewsI describe this route as a leisure ride. It tries to avoid roads as much as possible. However, to get across Glasgow north/south almost inevitably involves using roads. We cross head for Cuningar Loop, on to Tollcross and Carntyne, take in Hogganfield Loch and Robroyston Park to get to Bishopbriggs for the coffee stop. We ride along the Forth and Clyde Canal to Stockingfield Bridge and then into Glasgow and back to Burnside through Rutherglen.
The route is classified as paved for its full length. There will be some cycling on roads which have cycle lanes / paths and some with none. The route after Bishopbriggs to Glasgow is mostly canal towpath which is shared with pedestrians.
We will stop at the Cadder Parish Church Coffee Shop in Bishopbriggs for coffee and cake. We may be too early for cooked food. https://www.cadderchurch.org/coffeeshop.html If anyone sees something they'd like to stop and look at, we'll stop.
This is Scotland and as we all know, the weather can be ‘variable’. Please check the forecast before leaving and come prepared. If the weather looks to be really terrible, the ride is likely to be cancelled.
First-timers welcome but please check the anticipated cycle speed.
