Have you been thinking about travelling between the campuses by bike but not sure of the route? Are you new to the area (or maybe not) and would like to know where the local cycle paths are? Perhaps you fancy some company to kick start a new cycling hobby?

Come and join us on a Bay Campus to Singleton Campus guided ride! This is a great, traffic-free route between Swansea University's two campuses, following the sweep of Swansea Bay. Much of the route is obvious, although it can get a bit confusing near the Marina and along Fabian Way, so why not join some of our British Cycling trained Ride Leaders who ride the path every day, to discover a cheap, healthy and (above all) fun way of travelling between the campuses. Not just a commuting ride between campuses, this is also an ideal opportunity, if you’re either new to the area or cycling, to discover the picturesque cycle path along the promenade whilst having some company on the ride.

Where will we be cycling?
We will be leaving the campus via Baldwin’s Bridge, heading along the shared cycle/pedestrian path running alongside Fabian Way. The route then runs around the back of the Park and Ride, before heading towards the waterfront of Prince’s Dock, passing Trinity St David’s new campus and joining the cycle path along the promenade towards Singleton Park Campus. We’ll cross at the lights opposite Brynmill lane and head up through Singleton Park taking the entrance to the University behind the Taliesin carpark. The route is roughly 5-6 miles long and will take about 40/45 mins at a leisurely pace.

This is a one way ride which will end at Singleton Campus.

What type of bike do I need?
The whole route is traffic free (although there are a few road crossings), almost flat, and well surfaced, so suitable for all types of bike.

Where do we meet?
The Santander Bikes stand outside The School of Management Building (Bay Campus)

What should I bring?
1. A roadworthy bike (check tyres and brakes before setting off). Don't have your own bike? Because we will be starting and finishing at a Santander Bikes station, there is always the option to hire a bike for the trip.
2. Bike Lock
3. Helmet
4. Money for refreshments if you fancy a coffee at Singleton.
5. Sunglasses can be helpful (if it’s sunny)
6. As its winter, please wrap up warm - gloves and windproof/waterproof jacket are a must (and a hat under your helmet is a good idea). If it’s raining, waterproof clothing (or a change of clothes in a bag) can also be useful.
