Tickets for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show might be as rare as hen’s teeth, not to mention pricey(!), but there’s plenty to admire for free as SW3 enters into the spirit of things with its theme of “Extraordinary Voyages” for this year’s Chelsea in Bloom event.
We will ride up to Chelsea via the Waterlink way, Peckham and Walworth, crossing the river at Westminster bridge. We will make our way to Chelsea via segregated cycle paths, quiet streets and a few potentially busy roads, junctions, roundabouts and squares. After admiring the installations, we will find a coffee stop before cycling back along the C10 and Waterlink Way.
This is a longer than usual ride, but it is flat, on a mixture of traffic free and/or quiet roads with some busy stretches of main roads. There is the possibility, that some roads may be very busy and you should be a competent and confident rider in such traffic conditions. This is a challenging ride for experienced cyclists. We will try and maintain a steady pace of about 10 mph in order to keep to the timings in the information. There will be a coffee stop quite a long way into the ride, so you may want to bring a snack and a drink with you.
(NB that the route may be different from advertised depending on the results of the recce ride and the traffic conditions on the day.)
Please call the leader, Jacqui Turner on 07456840924, if you have booked but there are problems on the day.
