Chester le Street to No Place

In Search of No Place

Chester le Street Market Place (Front St end) DH3 3EZ

This is a very varied 16 mile route around the countryside west of Chester le Street. We’ll be heading up the Sustrans line in search of No Place from where we’ll ride to South Moor, passing alongside the golf club to reach Holmside and Edmondsley where we’ll stop for a cuppa at the Cong Burn garden centre. Back to Chester le Street via Waldridge. The route has a few hills in it and some rough off road sections although each of these is short. It is overall a fairly challenging 16 miles but there are some lovely downhills included. Hybrids and mountain bikes are the best choice of bike.

This is a suitable ride if you’re wanting to build up confidence as well as for more experienced riders wanting a relaxed ride with a bit of challenge, chat and a chance to visit a great tea stop.

In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Please make sure your bike is in working condition and bring a spare tube to fit your tyres. We should be riding for about 2 1/2 hours plus cafe time. Expect to return to Chester le Street by about 5pm.

As always we can’t predict the weather so please dress suitably. You are better to be overdressed as you can always take layers off.
