Emilys by Road, Rail and Trail

A ride to Emily's Tea Shop at Whitwell is always worthwhile but this route will take you along an old rail route, trails, quiet lanes and even a ford! Lovely scenery. Nicky line to Harpenden, Upper Lea Valley Way out of Harpenden and the Lea Valley Walk brings us back into Harpenden slightly fuller after our stop at Emily's. So a few miles of not too difficult off-road, plenty of lovely countryside and only some short stretches of busier roads. Around 1500' of climb and the max gradient is around 7%.
