The River Wogebourne is probably the most lost of all of London's lost rivers. It is so lost that, on my first reconnaissance ride I couldn't even find it. However, persistence paid off, as, after carrying out further Google searches and a second reconnaissance ride, I was pleased to discover that in the heart of what appears to be the Wogebourne Valley, the remnants of the mighty River Wogebourne can still be found. This ride takes us to Southmere Lake, which is fed from waters of the Wogebourne. We will trace the course of this ancient river, which used to be tidal, up to its source at Shooter's Hill. We will stop off at Oxleas Wood Cafe for a refreshment break, before returning to Cutty Sark Gardens. Ride Leader: Nigel Bee (tel 07415 315 6990, email [email protected] )
