The ride starts promptly at 9.30 am. If you plan on joining us at Northolt High School @ 9.55 am please let me know.
The route will take back and side roads from Harrow to Northolt before joining the canal and following the towpath all the way to Paddington Basin where we will stop for snacks and refreshments.
We will then head to Hyde Park before joining up with the E/W cycle superhighway all the way along Embankment before ending the ride at Aldgate.
The route is fairly flat with a couple of really sharp and short climbs over locks.
Hybrid tyres are the most suitable for the terrain. The route is suitable for road, hybrid, and mountain bikes.
Top tips:-
Have breakfast
Wear layers - base, mid, and a water/windproof top layer
Bring a spare set of gloves/hat to swap over after the break. Cold/damp equipment is uncomfortable
Check the weather the day before and dress appropriately
Check you have the right type of inner tube for your bike (Presta or Schrader!)
Don't bring too much that will weigh you down - it's a long ride - cycle smarter, not harder
Things to bring with on the ride:-
Oyster/contactless card/cash
Snacks - gel bars/flapjacks/bananas
Water - a bottle should be enough as there is a Sainsburys in Paddington if you need to top up
Spare inner tube and puncture kit/pump
Bike lock - D lock and cable are the best (if a buddy is coming, check with them and split the load)
Please check your bike over a few days before, and get any strange noises checked out. If your bike is not roadworthy, you may not be able to participate.
If you cannot make it, please do cancel your place and send me a text as the system may not pick up your cancellation - 07710 178 626.
Can I ask that you check your contact details on your profile and update them where necessary?
