From The Leggers Inn we will travel up to Thornhill before heading along Edge Road and Judy Haig Lane to Overton.
From there it is all downhill to Horbury.
We will take a look at St. Peter’s Convent before taking a different route to Ossett.
From Ossett we will take in Gawthorpe and the water tower on Chidswell Lane.
For a change we will go through Hanging Heaton to get to Dewsbury.
Please be aware there are a few hills along the way however nobody will be left behind.

This Sunday’s ride will leave The Leggers Inn and take in Thornhill, Overton, Horbury, & Gawthorpe before dropping down to Dewsbury Leggers via Hanging Heaton and Crackenedge. It is a very pleasant ride but there are hills along the way so please do not underestimate it. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS RIDE IS OPEN TO ADULTS, 18+ ONLY. The Met Office forecast for 10:00 Sunday is currently suggesting white cloud, a temperature of 10°C and winds gusting to 27 mph. Please check the forecast for yourself on Sunday morning. Please be aware that this is not a guided ride and that each participant remains responsible for their own actions or omissions at all times.

For the majority of the ride we will travelling along tarmac roads but their may be some gravel tracks along the way. We will encounter a reasonable amount of traffic on the roads so all riders will need to be fully confident in those situations. Mountain bikes, hybrids and gravel bikes are most suited to this ride.

With the exception of short stops to re-group, or to take in points of interest along the route, there are no scheduled breaks on this ride. We may call for coffee on the way back to the Leggers Inn.

Helmets are mandatory on all Heavy Woollen Wheelers rides. Please bring a spare inner tube suitable for the tyres on the bike you are riding.
