Hyde park and the Queen's Birthday Gun Salute

PLEASE only sign up if you are sure you will make the ride. This is a challenging ride, not suitable for beginners.
We will ride briskly up to Hyde park via Peckham and Walworth, crossing the river at Westminster Bridge, where we may have a diversion along busy, unsegregated roads. Time permitting, we may have a coffee stop in St James's park before riding on to Hyde park to see and hear(!) the gun salute marking the Queen's birthday.
There will be a deafening 41 gun salute in Hyde Park to mark the the Queen's 96th birthday.
The guns are usually situated near the edge of the park, a short distance from Marble Arch, but we may just take a couple of photos at close range and then retire to a safe distance to protect our eardrums!
Please bring a snack and a drink in case the café options are busy.
The route consists of mainly quiet roads and traffic free paths but there are a couple of stretches of potentially busy roads and some busy junctions, as well as a diversion in Central London so you must be confident cycling alongside traffic. You must be able to maintain a steady, at times brisk, pace in order to keep up with the group. The Queen's gun salute waits for no Breeze ride.
Please ensure you are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions and that your bike is in good working order. Bring a lock in case we have to leave the bikes unattended.
