This year I am running a series of rides with a theme of Inspirational Women of the Chilterns. ‘I do not wish women to have power over men; but over themselves.’ – Mary Shelley There are 4 rides ranging in distance from 20-34 miles. Each ride is designed around one or two local women who have been inspirational in their field. The route will take us to a landmark of the women concerned, and of course, will include a café stop. All the rides are suitable for casual riders. While there will inevitably be some hills, the purpose is to enjoy the ride at a leisurely and comfortable pace. This final, and longest ride, takes us out to Wallingford, one of the homes of Agatha Christie, the ‘Queen of Crime,’ and a visit to the bronze statue made in her honour. It is the prettiest ride with some great views and a particularly good café stop! https://www.theguardian.com/books/2023/sep/11/agatha-christie-statue-takes-seat-on-bench-in-oxfordshire-town
Quiet country lanes mostly
We will stop in Wallingford and have coffee at the The Blue Tin cafe in Ipsden.
You must wear a helmet. Please bring a spare inner tube, pump and check your bike over the night before to check it is roadworthy.
We never leave anyone behind
