Along Route 6 (61) along partly gravel cycle path, shared cycle paths but mostly road. It passes through north Watford, Meriden, then out to Bricket Wood. It then goes through How Wood, Park Street, then into Chiswell Green. It returns along the same route. Mostly road, but also shared paths and the Ebury Way which is not a tarmac surface. Skinny tyres would not be a good idea on this surface.
