Downhill from Llanrumney, then undulating through country lanes to start with. It is largely flat through Newport, and onto the flats, where we will have a coffee stop at the RSPB cafe. The return trip is via route 88 along quiet roads and country paths (fine grit) to St Mellons and back up the Llanrumney hills to the start.

This is a lovely route with changing views of a mixture of country, town and wetland landscapes to the RSPB Wetlands Centre at Nash, Newport. I have described it as challenging as it is 30 miles.

The route is on quiet roads/lanes and shared cycle paths.

When we get to RSPB Nash, we'll stop for a coffee, there will be brief re group stops along the route.

Please bring a bike lock and also a spare inner tube if you have one, and your cycle helmet. Also some money for the cafe stop

• We never leave anyone behind :)
