Long Edge to Waskerley Way
Saturday 20th May, 10am from Broompark Picnic Site

This route is an alternative roadway to join Waskerley Way to Parkhead Station. Whilst we will not be venturing that far we will, nether the less, enjoy magnificent countryside views as we cycle along the top of Lanchester Valley, along Longedge Lane (a fabulous romanlike road) to our coffee stop at Haystax Farm, a new development with sensory rooms, lodges catering for disabled persons, and even changing facilities. From here we will cross the A68, drop down onto Waskerley Way, cycle over Hownsgill Viaduct and head back to Broompark along the Lanchester Valley railway track.

The route is approximately 28 miles, with an elevation gain of 1300 feet. The ride is approximately 40% roads and 60% track. This ride is suitable for intermediate riders on hybrids/gravel bikes. We estimate to be out 4-5 hours.

As with all rides, we do recommend the wearing of a helmet and suitable clothing for the weather forecast. We hope by then the weather will have warmed up but it is advisable to have both warm and waterproof clothing to hand in case. Please ensure you have a spare inner tube, tyre levers and a pump. Water and snacks are also advisable.

To ensure a prompt start, please arrive 10 minutes before the start time to allow for a mechanical check and route description.

We look forward to you joining us and remember, we never leave anyone behind.

Maureen, Kay and Alison.
