We will be following as closely as possible to route of the old railway line. We think that this is the most interesting history ride in the Lets Ride Swindon series of rides. We are commemorating the running of the last passenger train on the Midland and South West Junction Railway see http://www.swindonsotherrailway.co.uk/

a lot is traffic free as you would expect and we won't meet any trains along the way; there are some residential roads

We plan to stop at Chiseldon on the way there and back to take on coal and water. We will have refreshments in Marlborough while the Engine Driver and Guard take a rest

Please bear in mind the physical distance and time duration of this ride. Don’t forget a full water bottle (or 2) with your favourite thirst quencher. Please bring a face mask; you will have to wear it in the event of first aid being required. For all our rides you should bring at least a spare inner tube and a pump. If your wheels are bolted on then a spanner that fits the nuts is also essential. Helmets are not compulsory but most definitely recommended. You should dress appropriately for the weather, and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or debit card for the coffee stop. Some café’s only take card payments.

This ride is open to anyone, especially those with an interest in railways. But we have a time table to stick to if we are to make the return journey. The average speed of this ride will be 10 mph. E bikers are welcome.
